Trena Taylor | BA, RT(R)(T) (ARRT), CPC | Director, Client Oncology Services
Meet Trena Taylor
As Oncology Client Services Director at RCCS, Trena Taylor brings more than two decades of radiation oncology expertise to every client she serves. She began her career in 1999 as a radiation therapist, where she discovered how much she loved working directly with patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Over time, she expanded her skill set beyond patient care... first learning charge capture and documentation review, then moving into coding responsibilities for her department. That blended clinical and operational perspective has shaped her entire career.
Trena’s transition into consulting began organically. While working in the clinic, she learned coding and documentation review under the mentorship of Tamara Syverson, now Vice President of RCCS. The more she learned, the more she found herself drawn to the analytical side of the work... understanding why something was coded a certain way, identifying missing documentation, and helping departments strengthen their processes. When she joined RCCS, she discovered a role that allowed her to use all sides of her experience: clinical knowledge, technical detail, and a deep understanding of the oncology workflow.
Throughout her time with RCCS, Trena has taken on nearly every role within Oncology Client Services. She has provided hands-on documentation and charge review for a set group of clients, managed teams of reviewers, and supported departments working through complex operational challenges. Today, she focuses primarily on leading Oncology Client Services at the service-line level: overseeing project management, ensuring new clients are set up for long-term success, and guiding them through the onboarding process before transitioning them to the day-to-day team. Even once clients are fully onboarded, she remains a trusted resource whenever they need deeper insight or troubleshooting.
What makes Trena particularly effective is the clinical foundation she shares with her team. Every member of Oncology Client Services has worked inside a radiation oncology department and knows firsthand how treatments unfold over time. Trena emphasizes that this context is essential... a single CPT® code can represent different clinical scenarios, and understanding those nuances helps ensure accurate, compliant charge capture. She and her team focus on making sure departments document thoroughly, bill appropriately, and understand why each recommendation matters. Ultimately, she sees their work as protecting both the provider and the patient.
Outside of work, Trena lives in Indiana and enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible. Golf is her favorite pastime, and she jokes that if she lived somewhere warmer, she would probably be on the course every day. Her love of learning extends beyond work as well... whether she’s reading, researching, or diving into a new topic, she brings the same curiosity and depth that define her professional approach.
